What Can We Do to Help?
Magen David Adom is Israel’s national emergency medical, disaster, ambulance and blood bank service. The name means “Red Star of David (literally: “Red Shield of David”). Since June 2006, Magen David Adom has been officially recognized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) as the national aid society of the state of Israel under the Geneva Convention, and a member of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. MDA has a dedicated medical emergency phone number in Israel, 101.
This year more than ever, being mercilessly attacked, surrounded by enemies on all sides, Israel’s only emergency medical, ambulance, blood and disaster service are in dire need of additional ambulances.
It’s to this need, the ZOA of SWFL is launching a fund raising drive to purchase an ambulance for the people of Israel and dedicate it to the memory of: Eyal Yifrah, Gilad Shaah, and Naftali Fraenkel, the three Jewish teens, kidnapped and ruthlessly slaughtered by Hamas.
Our goal is to raise $155,000 dollars during 2014/2015 the cost of a new ambulance. To kick off the drive, the ZOA of SWFL pledges a $1,000.00 to start and a percentage of all our upcoming events during the 2014/2015 season. Further details will be forthcoming.
